Message type that adjusts the stroke of the compressor based on the "demand" of the A/C system. This effectively eliminates clutch on/off cycling (except at WOT as Barry noted) that fixed displacement compressors require. When the compressor is operating at a shorter stroke, there is less load required of the engine which essentially reduces gas consumption. By how much? I have no idea but I can't imagine it's a significant amount.
